What to expect

In this practice we will explore rapid images. This is a traditional Yoga Nidra technique that gently guides the mind through a series of simple mental images. The images appear and disappear quickly, without analysis or effort.

The purpose is not to imagine them perfectly. Instead, the mind simply notices each image as it appears and allows it to pass. This movement of attention helps the thinking mind relax and reduces the tendency to follow long chains of thoughts.

How to practice
01
Find a comfortable position
Lie down on your back. Use a blanket if you tend to get cold. Close your eyes.
02
No headphones needed
You can use speakers or headphones — whichever feels more comfortable for lying down.
03
Follow the voice, not the meaning
Don't try to visualise perfectly — just let the words guide your attention. The practice works even when the mind wanders.
04
Stay until the end
The last few minutes are when the deepest rest happens. If you can, stay with it through the closing.
Why it works

Yoga Nidra has been shown to increase dopamine levels in the striatum by up to 65% and reduce cortisol. The practice guides the brain through alpha and theta states — the same slow-wave activity associated with the transition into sleep — without requiring you to actually fall asleep.
